Biography

Birth

Josiah Witt was born at Marlborough, Massachusetts, on 26 May 1724, the son of Samuel Witt and Elizabeth (Breed) Witt.[1]

Marriage

Josiah Witt married Elizabeth Eames at Marlborough, Massachusetts, on 30 May 1751.[2] Elizabeth Witt is named in her father’s 1771 will. On 31 Oct 1786, Josiah Witt signed a receipt saying he had received of Ebenezer Eames, Robert Eames’ executor, the £6 that Elizabeth had been bequeathed in Robert’s will.[3]

Will

Josiah Witt of Marlborough, Massachusetts, made his will on 7 Jun 1803. He mentions his sons, Ebenezer, Silas, Samuel, Josiah, and John; and his daughters, Elizabeth Randall, Mary, and Susannah.[4]

Death and Burial

Josiah Witt died at Marlborough, Massachusetts, in 1803. The town record gives the date as 2 May 1803.[5] His gravestone has the date 22 Mar 1803 and says he was 79 years old. He is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Marlborough.[6]
