Biography

John Martin Frederick Diedrich was born on 21 January 1886 in Hamlin, Monroe, New York to German immigrants Eduard Georg Christian "William" Diedrich and Luise Charlotte Marie Ernestine "Marie" Hüser. He was baptized Johann Martin Friedrich Diedrich at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamlin on March 14th, and his sponsors were Johann Leverenz, Maria Flugel, and Friedrich Diedrich - the latter two being his godparents. He and his siblings were raised on a livestock farm in Hamlin.

John married Josephine Caroline Klafehn on 20 January 1910 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamlin. Together they had five children: Luther Adolf, Margaret Lena, Linda Estelle, John Arthur, and William Arnold. They lived first on Ladd Road in Hamlin on the farm of Josephine's family before moving to the farm of George N Pickstock sometime after 1915. In March 1918, the family moved to the George Strussenburg farm on Long Pong Road in Greece, New York. They then moved to a farm on Church Road in Hamlin sometime before 1925, where they lived for roughly a decade before moving to a farm on Morton Hamlin Road, where they would live for at least two decades. He and Josephine finally moved to Redman Road in Hamlin, where he would spend the rest of his life.

He worked as a livestock farmer and was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church.

John passed away following a long illness on 20 February 1960 at his home on Redman Road in Hamlin and was buried three days later in Parma Union Cemetery in Parma.
