Biography

When Esther Proctor was born on November 16, 1734, Canterbury, Windham County, Connecticut British America, her father, John Proctor, was 30, and her mother, Sarah Bosworth, was 35. Esther was baptized the following day in Canterbury. She married Josiah Southworth on April 2, 1755, in Mansfield City, Connecticut (his second wife as first wife had died). Together Esther and Josiah had two children during their marriage. He had one living son from his first marriage. She died as a young mother on January 13, 1762, in Mansfield City, Connecticut, at the age of 27, and was buried in Orange, Vermont.

1743 Death of Esther's Mother Sarah Bosworth Proctor who passed away on June 23, 1743, in Canterbury, Connecticut, at the age of 43 (born 1699).

1755 MARRIAGE About 6 months later after the passing of his first wife, Josiah Southworth married Esther Proctor in Mansfield City, Connecticut, on April 2, 1755, when he was 35 years old. All of his daughters with his first wife had died young and he had one living son from the marriage with Abigail Ward. (Note: Esther is my paternal line ancestor. Donna Cator). Esther Proctor was born in 1734.

1756 (Deacon) Asa Southworth (Sr.) who was born on August 28, 1756, in Mansfield City, Connecticut. He lived till 1811.

1758 Lemuel S Southworth who was born on June 11, 1758, in Mansfield City, Connecticut. He lived till 1841.

1762 The French and Indian War was being fought.

Esther's sons would then be raised by Josiah's third wife, Irene Reed whom he married on January 13, 1762, when he was 42 years old. Irene was born 1730 and lived till 1815. Irene was the first person buried in West Fairlee Center Cemetery and died on March 18, 1815.
