Biography

Jonathan was born about 1750. He married Elizabeth Barter and had 10 children between 1770 and 1788: John, Lydia, Mary, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Lois, Abigail, Patty, Jenny and Sally.

JONATHAN6 DAWES (EBENEZER5, JONATHAN4, JONATHAN3, WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1750, and died March 27, 1812. He married ELIZABETH BARTER 1768. She was born Abt. 1747.

ii. LYDIA DAWES, b. October 14, 1773. m. 5 December, George Butler [Buttler] of Deal Cove, Mount Desert Island, Maine.

According to F. B. Greene^[1], "Jonathan Daws married Elizabeth Barter, 1768, and lived on his father’s homestead. They had ten children, born bet. 1770-88: John, Lydia, Mary, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Lois, Abigail, Patty, Jenny, Sally. The father was a sea captain and died Mar. 27, 1812. The children settlted elsewhere."
