Mona (Watling) Stevens was born in Yorkshire, England.

Mona Watling was born to George Wilson Watling and Elizabeth Altass Otley on April 4, 1921 in Beale, Yorkshire, England. Her birth was registered in Pontrefact.

Beal is a village and civil parish in the District of Selby in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Aire, 3.5 miles (6 km) north-east of Knottingley, 8 miles (13 km) south-west of Selby, and 21 miles (34 km) south of York.

George and Elizabeth emigrated to Victoria with their two children Mona and Trevor, on the SS Minnedosa arriving in Quebec on May 12, 1928. They took the train to Vancouver and settled in Victoria.

Mona married Robert Nelson Stevens April 4, 1945 in Victoria, British Columbia. Mona and Robert stayed together for about 5 years.

Mona died at age 61 on April 24, 1982 in St Joseph's Hospital, Victoria, British Columbia.
