Biography

Harmony was born in 1790. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Rood.

Horace Risley and Harmony Rood were married 1 Oct 1807 in the Cazenovia Presbyterian Church, Cazenovia, New York.^[1][2]

In 1820 she was living in Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York.^[3] The household included 3 males under age 10, 1 male age 16 to 25, 1 male age 26 to 44, 1 male over age 45, 2 females under age 10, and 1 female age 26 to 44.

On 14 Apr 1821, based on the application of Horace Risley, the probate court of Chautauqua County issued a letter to Abigail Rood widow of Jeremiah Rood who is alleged to have died intestate in Pomfret to show cause if letters of administration not be granted to Horace Risley.^[4] On 2 May 1821 Horace Risley was appointed administrator of the estate of Jeremiah Rood, who died intestate.^[5]

In 1830 she was living in Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York.^[6] The household included 1 male under age 1, 1 male age 10 to 14, 2 males age 15 to 19, 4 males age 20 to 29, 1 male age 40 to 49, 1 female under age 5, 2 females age 5 to 9, 1 female age 10 to 14, 1 female age 15 to 19, 1 female age 40 to 49, and one female age 70 to 79. What a large household, with 16 members! The female over age 70 may have been her step mother Abigail.

In 1840 she was living in Pomfret, Chautauqua, New York.^[7] The household included 1 male age 10 to 14, 1 male age 20 to 29, 1 male age 50 to 59, 2 females age 5 to 9, 2 females age 10 to 14, 1 female age 15 to 19, 2 females age 20 to 29, and 1 female age 50 to 59.

In 1850 she was living in Libertyville, Lake, Illinois.^[8] The household included Horace Risly age 65 born in Connecticut, Harmony Risly age 60 born in Connecticut, Phebe Risly age 24 born in New York, Jane Risly age 20 born in New York, and Ann Risly age 17 born in New York.

In 1860 she was living in Chester Township, Howard, Iowa.^[9] The image shows Horace R, but the index names him Munger. The household included Wm Munger age 43 born in New York, Helen M Munger age 43 born in New York, Mary H Munger age 10 born in Illinois, Warren J Munger age 7 born in Illinois, Horace R Munger age 75 born in Connecticut, and Emma Munger age 70 born in Connecticut. William was a farmer.

In 1870 she was living in Chester Township, Howard, Iowa.^[10] The household included William Munger age 53 born in New York, Hellen M Munger age 53 born in New York, Mary H Munger age 20 born in Illinois, Warren Munger age 17 born in Illinois, and Harmony Risley age 80 born in Connecticut.

She died 22 Dec 1871.

She is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs, Howard County, Iowa.^[11]
