Biography
James Bomforth was born before the 30th June 1842, in East Retford, Nottinghamshire, the son of John Bomforth and Harriet Theaker.[1]
On the 6th June 1841 the Bomforth family were living at Chancery Lane, East Retford, Nottinghamshire. Home at the time were John (35-39, head of the household), Harriett (40), and their children: Harriett (13),Sarah (10), Eliza (6), Mary (4), George (2), and baby James (not yet named, 0), and Nottinghamshire-born Elizabeth Longbottom (57).[2]
The extended Bomforth family emigrated aboard the Olympus, departing from Gravesend, Kent, for New Zealand.[3]
James Bomforth passed away in 1903.
Notice of his funeral was published in the Nelson Evening Mail.
- FUNERAL—THE Friends of the late JAMES BOMFORTH are respectfully informed that his Funeral will leave the residence of Mrs Goodwin, South street, TO-MORROW (Tuesday) AFTERNOON, at 2-30, for the New Cemetery. ALFRED SHONE, Undertaker.[4]
