Thelma Alice Todd was born at Lawrence, Essex, Massachusetts, in 1906, the daughter of John Shaw Todd, an Irish upholsterer, and Alice Elizabeth Edwards,[1] who immigrated from Canada. She had an elder brother, William.
In 1925 she won the title Miss Massachusetts.
Thelma began her comedy career during the silent film era, starring in films with "The Marx Brothers" and "Laurel and Hardy" and "Buster Keaton".
Thelma Todd married Pat De Cicco at Prescott, Arizona, on July 10, 1932.[2]
Thelma and Pasquale were divorced in 1934.
In 1934, Thelma opened a sidewalk cafe in Pacific Palisades named Thelma Todd's Sidewalk Cafe.
In 1935 she featured in the Laurel and Hardy comedy The Bohemian Girl which aired in 1936.
On Monday, December 16, 1935, Thelma was found dead in her car, inside the garage of Jewel Carmen, about a block away from her restaurant. She was 29 years of age. Thelma was buried in her home town of Lawrence, Massachusetts. She had no children.[3][4]
