Biography

Nevada Wallen, 83, of Slidell, La., formerly of Caryville, died Friday at her home. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Caryville and a retired Campbell County School Teacher.

Survivors include a son, William F. Wallen of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Joyce Haywood of Palm Springs, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Parker and Mrs. Ocie Turner both of Knoxville; six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cross Chapel, the Rev. Harry Fleenor officiating. Burial was in Jellico Cemetery.

Cross Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.

Robeson was changed to Robinson by mother of Nevada & Bea & Ocie & Lonzie at Coal Creek or Briceville, TN (now Lake City) before Bea was born 1858 approximately. Family there also had the name Roberson with some daughters who gave "Roberson" a bad name, therefore Nevada's mother changed their name to Robinson.
