Ernest was born in South Australia on 5 August 1883 to Charles Rischbieth and Elizabeth Susan Wills.^[1]

Ernest married Jean Osborne Lathlean in North Adelaide, South Australia on 7 August 1917.^[2]

Ernest died in North Adelaide, South Australia on 25 March 1918 .^[3]

The following obituary was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Glenelg Guardian, on 28 March 1918: ^[4]

Mr. Ernest August Rischbieth, of High Street, Glenelg, died at the North Adelaide Private Hospital on Monday afternoon, following upon an illness of about three weeks' duration. Mr. Rischbieth was well-known in business circles in Adelaide. He was a son of the late Mr. Charles Rischbieth, of G.and R. Wills & Co., and was born at Glenelg 34 years ago. He was educated at Prince Alfred College, and at Clifton College, England. Mr. Rischbieth entered into business in Adelaide about 17 years ago, being first connected with the firm of George Wills and Co., and latterly with the warehouse of G. & R. Wills & Co., of which he has been a director since 1913. He was married about six months ago to the eldest daughter of Mr. F. Lathlean. He was a brother of Mr. C. F. Rischbieth of Glenelg, Mr. H. W. Rischbieth of Western Australia, Dr. Harold Rischbieth of North Adelaide, Mrs. G. A. Jury and Miss E. C. Rischbieth of Glenelg, and Mrs. L. G. Stock of Adelaide. The body was interred in the family vault at the West Terrace Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the funeral being largely and representatively attended.
