James was born 11 February 1849 to parents James B. Moore (1808-1877) and Margaret Jane Rutledge (1815-1907). [1] In 1860 they are also living in Rapides Parish. Even though no community is given on the census record, they were living in what was then Spring Hill and now is Forest Hill, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. [2]
James R. Moore married Ruth M. Graham 22 June 1871 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. [3]
In the 1880 census James R. Moore, Ruth Moore and their three children are living in the household with James' brother W. Scott Moore. Three Moore families are indexed as if they are in the same household but are actually in separate numbered residences. The third residence is where Jane Moore is living; she is the mother of James and Scott. [4]
After Ruth died, James married Willimene V. Grissom (1858-1903). They had at least two children and maybe 4. Willimene died at home in Lecompte, Rapides Parish, Louisiana 12 June 1903. There is an obituary posted on her FindAGrave memorial. Find A Grave: Memorial #28448354
He passed away 3 April 1913 and is buried in the Brewer Cemetery, Forest Hill, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. [5]
The known children of Ruth Graham Moore and James R. Moore are:
Ella Moore b. 1871
John Moore b. 1877
Robert S. Moore b. 1879
Charlie Moore b. 6 July 1883
