Samuel was born in 1917 in Brookhaven,Lincoln,,Ms. The youngest of 4 children and the only son. His father died in Jan 1919 of influenza. Family moved back to Roseland, LA near other family. He graduated high school and attended Southern Louisiana College in Hammond. He work at his uncle's Refrigeration business (Wands, Inc) where he learn refrigeration trade and probably met his future wife Emma Apffel. Enlisted in the Army Air Corp in Oct 1941. Did his basis training at Camp Shelby, MS and Kessler Army Air Corp base in Biloxi. He spent World War as airplane mechanic at Barksdale Air Force base in Bossier City, LA. He remain in Shreveport area working as air conditioning mechanic eventually working for his own business. He passed away in 1971.
