The 1940 Census[5] shows a different name for his wife. This "Mary" may well be the same person as his wife "Vella" as she is about the same age, and a record of a second marriage has not yet been seen. Then in 1942, his WWII Draft Card[6] confirms that Vella is his nearest relative.
