Asahel Clark was born on September 5, 1744 in Sturbridge, Worcester, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of Rowland Clark (1722–1790) and Hannah Lawrence (1719–1809). ^{[1] [2]}

Dorothy was born on July 6, 1745 in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut Colony. She was the daughter of Timothy Hide and Dorothy (Bugbee) Hide.
