Biography
Diadema Rathbone was born August 30, 1748 in Lyme, New London County, Connecticut.[1][2] She died 17 Nov 1799 in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts at age 56.
Diadema's name, both given and surname, have been recorded with many spelling variations, including Diadamey and Rathburne.
Daughter of Daniel Rathbone and Thankful Higgins.
Diadema Rathbone married Captain Elisha Huntley Mack c. 1765 in Connecticut.
Research Notes
The two different sources for Diadema's birth have different dates, one being August 30, 1748 the other being March _, 1743. The latter comes from the Deerfield Vital Records and uses Graveyard data. She has two stones which also have different data. The stone where she is buried has engraved, March 1743, which is what the Deerfield Records uses. But it would have been 1744 in the new style dating system. The Cenotaph at Fairview Cemetery in Montague has inscribed a death date of November 17, 1798 and age 49[3], which would put her year of birth at 1749. The Monument where she is buried in Deerfield, has inscribed Nov. 1799.[4] The year didn't change for November, but even if it did, this was long after the Calendar change.
