Biography

Mary Missouri Davis was born on 8 Jun 1852^[1] in either Tallapoosa County or (adjacent) Coosa County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Allen R. Davis (1821-1902) and Louisa F (Shaddix) Davis (1828-abt.1907).

1860 US Census:^[2] Mary Davis was listed as 8yo and born in AL. She was living in Western Division Beat 11, Tallapoosa Co, Alabama with her parents, two siblings, and two other Davis family members.

No 1870 US Census record has been found for the family.

Mary M Davis and John Rufus Sides (1851-1941) were "married at the home of the bride's father, A. R. Davis, Esq., near Alexander City [Tallapoosa Co] Ala. by W. M. Sturdinant"^[3] on 17 Oct 1878 in Tallapoosa Co, AL.^[4] Their children would include:

• Otis Garfield Sides (1881-1944)
• William Rufus Sides (1883-1965)
• Henry Coley Sides (abt.1887-1954)
• David Houston Sides (1890-1955)

The 1900 US Census (see below) states that Mary had an unknown 7th child, reported elsewhere to be an unnamed son who died as an infant. Other than the reference in the Census, nothing further is known.

1880 US Census:^[5] Mary M Sides was listed as 25yo and born in AL. She was living in Hackneyville, Tallapoosa Co, AL with her husband John R Sides (28; AL) and their infant son Oscar (3? mo; AL).

1900 US Census:^[6] Mary M Sides was shown as 48yo, born Aug 1852 in AL. She was living in Brooksville, Coosa Co, AL with her husband John R Sides (49; AL) and their children Oscar Z (21), Otis G (17), William R (16), Henry C (13), David H (11), and Raburn B (8).

1910 US Census:^[7] Mary M Sides was listed as 57yo and born in AL. She was living in Precinct 10, Autauga Co, Alabama with her husband John R (58; AL) and their son Raborn B (17; AL).

1920 US Census:^[8] Mary M Sides was shown as 67yo and born in AL. She was living in Cold Spring, Elmore Co, Alabama with her husband John R Sides (68; AL).

Mary passed away on 23 Nov 1926. She is buried in Sheppard Cemetery in Elmore County, Alabama.^[1]
