Alexander was born in Scotland, about 1834, son of John Malcolm and Ellen.
Alexander Malcolm, Civic leader, built the Charters Towers Stock Exchange in 1888, going heavly into debt, and never finished the building.
Alexander Malcolm passed away at Charters Towers on the 19th of August 1891, apparently of alcoholic mania and a heart attack.[1]
His will took ten years to be executed and his wife had remarried by then.
