I learned to be the family historian from my mother Emmerline Lorena (Crochet) Broussard . She had first hand conversations with the "old"folks back in the 1930s. I own the original books , obtained from the authors along with firsthand written accounts from my ancestors.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand Pre-1700 Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines on that page.

Welcome to Wikitree! I see you have a lot of interest in Acadian ancestors--that's great! The Acadian Project does too, and I want to let you know that most of the older ancestors are already on Wikitree. You've created some duplicate profiles which will need to be merged--this happens and I'm here to offer tips to avoid creating duplicates. We have a list of standard names we use for Acadians: https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Space:Acadian_Standard_Names&public=1
Before creating a profile, use this list to search for the name to see if it's already on WikiTree. Use alternate spellings too. If you find the person you want, connect to that person instead of creating a new profile. If you do accidentally create a duplicate, propose a merge into the profile with the standard spelling of the name. After the merge, the biographies need to me merged into one unifed biography with no duplication of text. Thanks! Under the HELP tab, search for merges to get more details on how to properly merge profiles.
We are certain to be cousins as I have a Broussard line starting with a great-grandmother who was from Broussard, Louisiana. If you need help connecting your Broussard lines, or with sources, I can help!
