Marie Catherine and Marie Rosalie were twins born 13 Sep 1814. They were the daughters of Ambroise Bérubé and Catherine Paradis. They were baptized 14 Sep 1814 in Rivière-Ouelle, their godparents were: Marie Catherine- her uncle Gabriel Lévêque and her aunt Louise Lacroix wife of Henry Paradis; Marie Rosalie- Germain Lévêque and his wife Catherine Plourde. [1] Note that on the same day, the entry just above this one, is for Marie Henriette Bérubé daughter of a different couple.
On 11 Jan 1836, in Rivière-Ouelle, Félix Sirois adult son of Joseph Sirois and Archange Miville Deschênes married Catherine Bérubé adult daughter of Ambroise Bérubé and the late Catherine Paradis. Witnesses included both fathers, no signatures. [2]
Dispensation was obtained for a third degree of consanguinity. They were second cousins through Jean Baptiste Paradis and his wife Marie Josphe Lévesque. They were also related along multiple other lines.
On 4 Nov 1856, in St-Alexandre de Kamouraska, Joseph Paradis widower of Sophie Caron married Catherine Bérubé widow of Félix Sirois. No relatives were witness and no signatures. [3]
They had one child, Pierre Paradis born and baptized 6 Dec 1856 in St-Alexandre de Kamouraska. [4] Pierre died at the age of 8 days, on14 Dec 1856, and was buried 3 days later in the cemetery of the above parish. Both acts are on the same page in the register. [5]
Catherine Bérubé began life along the St-Lawrence river in Rivière-Ouelle. She moved north to St-Alexandre de Kamouraska and finally moved inland to St-Epiphane which is about 70 miles from Madawaska, New Brunswick, and Madawaska, Maine where many of her children had settled. Her second husband, Joseph Paradis, died 2 Feb 1885. He was buried 2 days later in St-Epiphane de Viger. [6] and she moved to Madawaska.
Catherine Bérubé died of the flu on 17 Feb 1894, at the age of 78 years, in St-Francis-Xavier-de-Madawaska. [7] She was buried 20 Feb 1894 in the cemetery of the above parish. In attendance were Georges Bouchard and Pascal Sirois, a son from her first marriage. [8][9]
