Friedrich (later Friedrich VI) von Baden-Durlach was born at Karlsburg on 6 November 1617, the eldest child of Friedrich V, Margrave (Markgraf) von Baden-Durlach, and his first wife, Barbara von Wurttemberg.[1]
He succeeded on the death of his father as Markgraf von Baden in Durlach in 1659.
Friedrich married on 30 November 1642 at Stockholm, Christine Magdalene, Countess Palatine of Zweibrucken in Kleeburg, daughter of Johann Kasimir, Count Palatine of Zweibrucken in Kleeburg, and Katarina of Sweden.
