Friedrich (later Friedrich VI) von Baden-Durlach was born at Karlsburg on 6 November 1617, the eldest child of Friedrich V, Margrave (Markgraf) von Baden-Durlach, and his first wife, Barbara von Wurttemberg.[1]
He succeeded on the death of his father as Markgraf von Baden in Durlach in 1659.
First marriage and children
Friedrich married on 30 November 1642 at Stockholm, Christine Magdalene, Countess Palatine of Zweibrucken in Kleeburg, daughter of Johann Kasimir, Count Palatine of Zweibrucken in Kleeburg, and Katarina of Sweden.
They had issue:
- Friedrich Kasimir, born 27 November 1643 at Wolgast, and died young in 1644, aged 4 months old also at Wolgast;
- Christine, born 22 April 1645 at Wolgast[2]
- Eleonore Katharine, born 4 May 1646 at Uckermunde and died young on 9 July 1646 at Wolgast.[1]
