Biography

Margaret Shinnors was born in 1764,[1] probably in the townland of Fedamore, County Limerick, Ireland, which was the residence on her marriage record in the Bruff Catholic parish register. [2] (Marriages often took place in the bride's locality.)

Marriage

Margaret Shinnors, aged 18, married James Kirby, Sr., aged 28, on 10 Sep 1782 in Bruff Catholic parish, County Limerick, Ireland. Witnesses were Dermot Kirby and James Shinnors.[2]

Her husband James Kirby, Sr. was born in 1754, probably in the rural townland of Rathjordan, County Limerick, where he lived with Margaret and their children, in the civil parish of Rathjordan.[3][4] The townland was part of the Catholic parish of Hospital and Herbertstown.

Death

Margaret (Shinnors) Kirby, aged 65, died on 4 Sep 1820 in Rathjordan, County Limerick, Ireland.[1] Her husband James Kirby, Sr., aged 73, died seven years later on 30 May 1827, also in Rathjordan.[3]

Both were buried in Cahercorney Cemetery, Herbertstown, County Limerick, with detailed inscriptions giving age and date of death, and residence.[12][13]
