Biography

Birth and Parents

Lydia (Hubbard) Sayre or Sears was born in Connecticut.

Lydia, the eldest daughter and second of seven children of Daniel Hubbard and Susannah Spencer was born on 24 June 1738 at Middletown, Connecticut.[1]

Marriage and Children

Lydia married John Sayre, the son of Nathan and Mary (Atwood) Sayre on 14 December 1770 at Middletown, Connecticut.[2] They had five children born at Connecticut:

  1. Phebe Sayre (b. 1771; d. 1850) m. 1799 at VT, Samuel DeLaumy Loomer (1778-1849)
  2. Lydia Sayre (aka Sears) (b. 17 Feb 1773; d. 1778)[3]
  3. Susanna Sayre (aka Sears) (b. 11 Aug 1775; d. 1869)[4] m. James Thomas (1771-)
  4. Lydia Sayre (b. Feb 1778; d. )[5]
  5. John Sayre (b. 31 Aug 1781; d. 1820)[6] m. 1804 at Middletown, CT, Polly McNary (1783-1821)

Death and Burial

Lydia (Hubbard) Sayre (alias Sears) died on 3 January 1823 in her 84th year at Middletown, and is buried in the Maromas Cemetery at Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut.[7]
