Biography

Birth and Christening

Born in Wales in 1631?

Marriage

Jane married William Davis, she was his third wife, they are believed to have had 9 children, but there is a suggestion that they may only have had 3 children. (See Research Notes)

Death and Burial

Jane passed away on the 12th of May 1714 in Waterdown or Roxbury, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1] The recorded data shows Roxbury as a place of death however, the image of the record shows Watertown.

Research Notes

  • Evidence and source are needed to confirm the place of birth
  • It should be noted that Jane was William's third wife and his profile state they had only three (3) children.
  • Needs marriage record and evidence of her children to support those attached.
  • Burial record would be useful
  • Ancestry.com/genealogy/records/jane-adams-24-12lp31b reports a Jane Adams born 1620 Roxbury Massachusetts to Henry Adams (1583-1646) and Edith Rosamund Squire (1587-1672). BUT this parentage seems unlikely as Jane was not mentioned in Henry's will. Also Henry (Adams-277) did not come to Massachusetts until later AND did not live in Roxbury.
  • Genealogieonline.nl/en/richard-and-charlotte-allen-cosby-ancestry/P48611.php claims that Jane was born in Roxbury in 1630 and married William in June 1868 when she would have been 38 years old. BUT it seems unlikely that she was not married much earlier or would have borne children up until age 53. - childbearing years range from 16 - 51 today, in 1600 women may have had children earlier at 14 years of age as considered 'mature' and marriageable, once their menses occurred.

Massachusetts town records identify children and father William Davis but omit mother's name.

I had been texting the profile manager of Davis-42733 about this.  The fact is that "Unknown Davis" (Unsourced) did not exist as a son of William Davis.  So I first deleted the link to the "father" and then wanted to merge into a profile that I recently adopted.  My intention was that none of the data re Davis-42733 would exist after the merge.

Davis-42733 and Adams-8103 do not represent the same person because: These profiles show different genders

Evidence is needed to prove the change in gender of Unknown Davies.

Jane profile also needs sourcing as much of the data has been questioned

Please work on the profiles to prove or disprove data

Regards Janet

Davis-42733 and Adams-8103 appear to represent the same person because: This will delete all info re Davis-42733 once I complete the merge.
