Biography
Pussy (McGillis) Adams Jr. is a part of US Black heritage.
Pussy Jr was born enslaved about 1838 in Georgia. Our first record is the probate inventory of Hannah McGillis of Camden County in 1854. The inventory mentions that she is part of a group of siblings: Caesar, Jacob, Richard, and Hannah. Also, she has the following children: Henry, Georgia, and Jacob.
Hannah's estate was split between Randolph McDonald and his sister, Isabel H Adams. Randolph was recently deceased and his portion went to his wife, Mary. Isabel's portion under the laws of the time went to her husband Francis Adams. Pussy Jr was inherited by Francis Adams.
In 1865 Francis filed a deed of his slaves that were to be emancipated. Pussy Jr was not mentioned on this list.[1]
