Biography

Dunja Brandes was born on 24 Mar 1970 in Wolfsburg, Niedersachsen, Deutschland, daughter of Wolfgang Brandes (1947–2016) and Paulina Henrica Johanna Vereijken (1948– ).

Dunja had a sister, Marijke Brandes (1979– ).

Dunja (22) married Horst Niehaus (25) (born on 28 Jul 1967 in Essen-Rüttenscheidt, Essen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland; son of Horst Hugo Wilhelm Niehaus and Helga Brandt) on 3 Sep 1992 in Meinersen, Landkreis Gifhorn, Niedersachsen.

About me

I was born to a dutch mother and a german father, after they have met on holidays in Spain. So being multicultural is quite normal in my family. I have a younger sister, and both of us we are good at languages. I am working as a medical assistant for 30 years and I still love my job. I love cats, Greece and I am member of an animal rescue society for cats in Greece, from the small island of Zakynthos. I herited the genes for genealogy from my dutch grandfather, who was going to churches and cemeteries himself in the 1950´s to find family roots.

Dunja,

Congratulations on working on early profiles, such as https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Aitets-1

Second-hand information such as a family tree that was handed down to you or found on another website may be used to create a profile of a modern person. (Even with modern family members it should be a priority to find and cite reliable sources.) We have a higher standard for deep genealogy. You must never create a pre-1700 profile without citing a reliable source. Click here for Help:Pre-1700 Profiles

GEDBAS is not a reliable source.

Since you are already a member of the Germany project, someone may be able to help you find reliable sources.

Hi, I see, but I am still working on it !

The second source is from a direct descendant who started working on his family more than 20 years ago, and he used the german "Ortssippenbücher" from this East Frisia area. Some of those books are in my posession as well and I will add more information to the profiles later. I was really embarrassed to find my 21st greatgrandfather today ....

All I gotta say is wow in regards to your most recent contributions! I haven't been able to fill in the gaps as much as I would have liked this weekend but I see you taking charge and connecting and creating. We'll want to work on finding better sources whenever possible but otherwise good job!

Hi, Dunja.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hallo Dunja.

I saw that you had made some contributions to the articles I had been working on/created for the WikiTree Challenge for Olivia Newton-John's family (within the Ehrenberg line). There were some additions made that didn't have any citations attached to them and I wanted to double-check with you where that information came from so that we can at least note that, and that it might allow me to track down more solid sources. At the moment, I myself am finding a lot of info from secondary sources so I know that is not the best situation on my end. Thank you.
