Revolutionary War Service: Joshua Mersereau Sr is DAR Ancestor #: A078214. He served in exile as member of the Assembly from Richmond County 1777-1782. He was born 26 Sep 1728 in Staten Island, Richmond, New York and died 10 June 1804 in Union, Tioga, New York. His spouses: 1) Sophie La Grange 2) Ann Roome 3) Esther, widow of Richard Christopher. Children in file Joshua Jr. who m Dinah Garretson, Mary who m William Van Naime (name), Lau(w)rence who m Hannah Christopher, John L who m Lois Brookens, Sophy who m William Ross.[1]

Joshua also served within the Mersereau Spy Ring.[2] He is also mentioned page 65 of "George Washington's Secret Spy War..." by John A Nagy, 2016 NY. Call 973.38 NAG

By second wife: Captain Lawrence, January 4, 1773, died January 24, 1873, married Hannah Christopher; Mary, May 23, 1775, died 1 May 1855, married William Van Name and next married George Harper; Cornelius, born July 12, 1777."
