GRANDFATHER HAS A BOARD BILL

A Stepfather Who Wants His Child Must Flash Up the Board.

Aberdeen, June 20. — The case of J. W. Lyman vs. J. H. Halbert, from Mansfield, will occupy the attention of the circuit court at the conclusion of the Maloney case or soon thereafter. The action Is rather peculiar and will attract quite a little local interest. The defendant, it seems, married a daughter of the plaintiff, and the lady subsequently died, leaving a little girl. The child lived with her grandparents for about five years, when the defendant married again and wanted the child to live under his roof. The grandparents objected, whereupon habeas corpus proceedings were instituted and the child was awarded to her father. This occurred last summer. Now the grandfather sues for $1,100 for care of the child for about five years.
