Biography

Violet Slee was born in 1916. She was the daughter of Granville Gray and Martha Killion. On the 23rd of February, 1935, Slee married Cecil Perkins.^[1] Slee was 19 and Cecil was 24 years old. They were both residing in O'Kean, Arkansas. In 1940^[2] the couple were living in Jones, Greene County, Arkansas. They are renting and Cecil is farming. The census recorded that Cecil (30) completed the 8th grade and Slee (24) completed the 6th grade. The couple have 3 children:

• Jimmie Lee (4) - born 1936 in Arkansas
• Junior (2) - born 1938 in Arkansas
• Etta (1) - born 1939 in Arkansas

Slee's mother, Addie, with brother Dewey and nephew Laverne were listed on the same census.

In 1950 ^[3] the family are still in Jones, Greene County, Arkansas. Cecil (39) is working as a day laborer on a farm; working 60 hours the week before the census. In addition to Jimmie, Cecil Junior and Etta, the couple have another boy and girl:

• David E. (4) - born 1946 in Arkansas

At some point the family moved to California where Cecil died on the 27th of March, 1988, at the age of 77. He was buried in the North Kern Cemetery in Delano, Kern County, California.^[4] Slee died on the 27th of May in 2004, at the age of 88 and was buried next to Cecil. ^[5]
