Charles Waller was born in 1737 in Leith, Scotland.[1]
He was a gentleman of Brompton Grove, London and of Ravenswood in West Wickham, Kent, also known as Grove Hall and inhabited for a time by Sir William Pitt.[2][3]
In his Will he describes himself as purser of His Majesty's ship the Emerald, the same ship of which his son Thomas was later Captain.[4]
Charles married Rachel Barbutt (born in 1740). Their children were:
