The 1860 Census record finds F M Wright (33), dry goods merchant , living in Petersburg, Virginia with Roberta B Wright (27), Fran M Wright (9) and William M Wright (5).^[1]

The 1870 Census record finds Francis Wright (43), dry goods merchant, living in Petersburg, Virginia with Roberta Wright (37), Francis M Wright (18), William M Wright (15), Jane Brownley (32), at home, and servants Sally Johnson (55), Bell Johnson (25).^[2]

Petersburg, February 17, 1877

Mrs. Roberta, wife of Captain F. M. Wright, died last night about 12 o'clock. Her death was a great surprise to her friends. Mrs. Wright has for years been the principal of the Petersburg Female College, and was a lady of high culture and great worth.^[4]
