Biography

Meyer was born about 1905 at Kosowe, Russia. He immigrated to the United States, arriving at New York on 3 January 1912 aboard the S.S. Vaderland, along with his mother Minnie Levitsky and two siblings.

The ship's passenger list gives his father's name as H. Czernichow. From other sources, especially the census, we have deduced that this was Hillel Czernichow, aka Gedalie Czerniak or Harry Schernick.
