Biography

The daughter of Calvin Wingate and Paulina (Winchell) Wingate, Sallie Wingate was born in Macon County, Alabama^{[citation needed]} in 1861, residing with her family by 1870 in Troy, Alabama.^[1] Sallie and her family migrated west to Texas, taking up residence in Washington County's Justice Precinct 2.^[2]

Sallie married William Thomas Mitchamore (1854-1922), an immigrant from England and the son of William Mitchamore and Jane Cross, marrying in Washington County on September 22, 1880^[3] and having five known children together:

1. Naomi Mitchamore (1881-1913)
2. Hester Virginia Mitchamore (1884-1970)
3. Bertha Lou Mitchamore (1885-1918)
4. William Thomas Mitchamore, Jr. (1888-1928)
5. Minnie Myrtle Mitchamore (1892-1924)

Sallie and her family made their home in Justice Precinct 1 of Austin County, Texas, farming.^[4][5] Sallie Mitchamore passed away at the age of 54 and is buried at Hempstead Cemetery in Hempstead, Texas.^[6]
