Caradog. Stewart Baldwin notes that "as father of Trahaern ap Caradog, his first name is certain from his son's patronymic. As far as I have been able to determine, none of Caradog's alleged ancestors (e.g., in ABT.2a,13,14) is a verifiably historical individual. [1]
Caradog ap Gwyn ap Gollwyn ab Ednywain ab Bleddyn ap Bledrus ap Cynog Mawr ab Iorwerth Hirflawdd[2]
Boyer gives only the paternal pedigree by way of ancestry. [2]
Mother (Questionable)
Without further citation, Geni states that Angharad ferch Marfedudd was the wife of Gwyn ap Collwyn of Dyfed in addition to being the wife Llywelyn ap Seisyll and Cynfyn ap Gwerystan, arglwydd of Cwybr [4]The Geni site further asserts that Angharad as therefore the mother of Gwyn's children, Caradawg and Angharat. [4]Angharad's detailed biography demonstrates that there was little room in her life for an additional marriage to Gwyn, and no source for such a relationship has been found other than Geni. Therefore Angharad has been removed as a mother for Caradawg and Angharat.
Pedigree

Caradog ap Gwyn ap Gollwyn ab Ednywain ab Bleddyn ap Bledrus ap Cynog Mawr ab Iorwerth Hirflawdd, born, say 1000
Marriage
Baldwin notes that Caradog's wife is unknown. He notes that "The Welsh annals (AC and ByT) refer to Trahaern ap Caradog as a cousin of Bleddyn ap Cynfyn (#24), which has led to speculation that Trahaern's mother was perhaps a sister of Cynfyn ap Gwerystan (#48). However, although we can be reasonably certain that Trahaern and Bleddyn were cousins, this information is not enough to nail down the precise relationship. [1]
