Biographie

Louis Adjuteur Lussier naquît en 1841 à Saint-Dominique, Canada-Est, de Cyrille Lussier et de Hermine Girard. Il fut baptisé « Louis ».[1] Plus tard, il s'appela « Louis Adjuteur », et même plus tard simplement « Adjuteur ».

En 1862 à Saint-Dominique, Louis Adjuteur, 20 ans, épousa Céline Gendron, aussi 20 ans, fille d'Étienne Gendron et de Marie Guyon.[2] Ils se fut installés à Weedon. Mais un peu plus d'un an plus tard, Céline décèda.

En 1865 à l'église St-Janvier de Weedon, Adjuteur épousa Julie Lisé (Lisay), fille de Joseph Lisay et de Marie Lemieux.[3]

Quelque temps vers 1878 ou 1879, Adjuteur, Julie, et huit enfants migrèrent aux États-Unis. Le recensement de 1880 les trouve à Chicopee, Massachusetts. Adjuteur, avec un pied blessé, et les trois aînés enfants travaillaient dans une filature de coton. Un neuvième enfant était née dans le Massachusetts.[4]

Par 1891, Adjuteur et la famille était revenus au Québec et exploitaient une ferme dans le comté de Wolfe. Julie avait donné naissance à deux autres enfants.[5]

Julie décésa en 1894. En 1895 à Fall River, Massachusetts, Adjuteur épousa Philomène Marineau, veuve d'Augustin Evariste Baribeau et fille de François Austin dit Marineau et de Marguerite Ayotte.[6] Par 1901, ils habitaient encore une fois au Québec à Weedon.[7]

Philomène décéda en 1910. En 1911 à Fall River, Adjuteur, 70 ans, se maria pour une quatrième fois, à Anna Mercier, veuve de Félix Desforges et fille de François Mercier et de Philomène Lizotte.[8]

Par le recensement de 1921, Adjuteur était de nouveau veuf, habitant à Weedon.[9] Il décéda à Weedon en 1923 à l'âge de 82 ans.[10]

Biography

Louis Adjuteur Lussier was born in 1841 in Saint-Dominique, Canada East, to Cyrille Lussier and Hermine Girard. He was baptized “Louis”.[1] Later he went by “Louis Adjuteur”, and even later just “Adjuteur”.

In 1862 in Saint-Dominique, 20-year-old Louis Adjuteur married Céline Gendron, also 20, daughter of Étienne Gendron and Marie Guyon.[2] They settled in Weedon. But a little over a year later, Céline died.

In 1865 at St-Janvier church in Weedon, Adjuteur married Julie Lisé (Lisay), daughter of Joseph Lisay and Marie Lemieux.[3]

Sometime around 1878 or 1879, Adjuteur, Julie, and eight children migrated to the United States. The 1880 census finds them in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Adjutor, with an injured foot, and the three eldest children worked in a cotton mill. A ninth child had been born in Massachusetts.[4]

By 1891, Adjuteur and family had returned to Quebec and were farming in Wolfe County. Julie had given birth to two more children.[5]

Julie died in 1894. In 1895 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Adjuteur married Philomène Marineau, widow of Augustin Evariste Baribeau and daughter of François Austin called Marineau and Marguerite Ayotte.[6] By 1901, they were again living in Quebec in Weedon.[7]

Philomène died in 1910. In 1911 in Fall River, Adjuteur married for a fourth time, to Anna Mercier.[8]

By the 1921 census, Adjutor was again widowed and living in Weedon.[9] He died in Weedon in 1923 at the age of 82.[10]
