Charles George Todhunter was born on 16 Feb 1869 in Willesden[1][2], son of Charles Franklin Todhunter (1838 - 1916) and Caroline (Dobson) Todhunter (1845 - 1932).

He joined his family in New Zealand when his mother returned there in 1873[3], although he was later educated in England. At the age of 19, he joined the Indian Civil Service (ICS) and was assigned to Madras Presidency. From 1924, he was the President of the Indian Taxation Inquiry Committee.
On retirement from the ICS, he became Private Secretary to the Maharaja of Mysore, holding the post for 16 years until the Maharaja's death in 1940.
Charles was appointed "Companion of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India" (CSI) in 1920 and as "Knight Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India" (KCSI) in 1921.
Charles died on 1 Mar 1949 aged 80 at St Helier, Jersey.[4]
