Biography
William Compton is Notable.
William Compton was born about 1625 the third son of Spencer Compton and his wife, Mary Beaumont. He was educated at Eton College, was knighted on 12 December 1643 and conducted the defence of Banbury Castle during a three month siege in 1644.
About 1651 he married Elizabeth Alington, widow of William Alington and daughter of Lionel Tollemache and his wife, Elizabeth Stanhope. No children were born of this marriage.
William first entered Parliament as member for Cambridge in 1661.
Sir William Compton died at home in Drury Lane on 18 October 1663 [1] and was buried at Compton Wynyates.

Hi. Can you check the sources I have added? I think you will find that William Compton son of Spencer Compton is not the same William Compton who married Mary Wilmot. William Compton son of Spencer Compton married Elizabeth Tollemache and does not appear to have crossed the Atlantic. He is not thought to have had any children.
