Curtis Henry Hampel was born March 30, 1886. He was the son of Gottfried Hampel and Marie Strauch. Henry married Elizabeth Conrady, daughter of John Conrady and Marie Hellter Conrady.^[1] They had one daughter, Mary Margaret Hampel in 1919. Elizabeth died in 1923 while her daughter was young. Ella Mills was the longtime housekeeper with the family who then helped Mary Margaret raise her family. Henry Hampel purchased a farm on Lake George which became a favorite vacation for his granddaughters with Ella.^[2] Henry Hampel passed away September 4, 1966 and was buried at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Allen Co., Indiana beside his wife Elizabeth. His memorial includes a headstone picture and dates.
