Margherita Castro is born and baptized on 26 November 1810, named after her maternal grandmother. She is the daughter of Ciro Castro and Rosaria Cannella. Her godparents are Don Giuseppe and Donna Maria Ninfa Marsalisi, a married couple.
Margherita marries Giuseppe Colletto, son of the late Silvestre Colletto and the living Francesca Paola Giannetto, on 3 November 1833. Her father has died by this time.[1]
Margherita and Giuseppe have ten known children: Francesca (1837), four sons named Silvestre (1834, 1836, 1839, and c. 1851), Salvatore (1841), Francesca Paola (1843), Rosaria (c. 1847), Santo (1849), and Calogera (1852).
The first son named Silvestre is born and baptized on 1 December 1834. His godparents are Maestro Vito and Francesca Costa, a married couple.
He dies on 23 February 1836 at a year and two months of age.
The second son named Silvestre is born and baptized on 3 July 1836. His godparents are Calogero and Maria Cutrera, brother and sister.
He dies on 2 July 1837 at one year of age, during the summer of the first recorded cholera outbreak in western Europe.
Francesca is born 30 September 1837 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Santo and Giovanna Colletti, a married couple.
The third son named Silvestre is born and baptized on 28 October 1839. His godparents are Francesco and Giuseppa Giambanco, a married couple. Silvestre dies on 17 March 1840 at five months of age.
Salvatore is born and baptized on 11 July 1841. His godparents are Giuseppe Pollara and Calogera Cuppuleri, a married couple.
Francesca dies at age five on 15 October 1842.
Francesca Paola is born 22 August 1843 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Ignacio Cusimano and Antonina Vajarello, a married couple.
This Francesca dies on 16 October 1844 at a year of age.
Rosaria is known only from the record of her death in infancy, on 23 October 1847.
Santo is born 1 April 1849 and baptized the next day. His godparents are Bernardo Mancuso and Giuseppa Scrafani, a married couple.
Calogera is born and baptized on 5 February 1852. Her godparents are Giovanni Cusimano and Giovanna Marino, wife of Antonino. She dies on 18 July 1852 at five months of age.
A four son to be named Silvestre is known from the record of his death, on 24 October 1852. It's possible this Silvestre is born after Calogera, and is slightly premature and dies within days of his birth. It's more likely he is born in the year or two before her birth, 1850 or '51. He may be as old as five or six, and still called an "infant" in the record of his death.
Margherita dies at age 43 on 2 September 1853. Giuseppe survives her. He remarries on 26 December, to Maria Mondello.
Salvatore dies, reportedly at age 11 (actually, 12) on 18 March 1854.
Giuseppe Maria Colletti dies at age 63 (b. 1800) on 10 September 1863, survived by his second wife.
Santo dies in the hospital at age 21 (b. 1849) on 12 May 1870, affected with pneumonia. His parents have both passed away. He is unmarried and lives in Corleone, on via S. Pietro.
