I was born in Bloomington IL in 1955 and am an only child. I spent my early years in Bloomington and in Colfax IL where my Grandmother Bertha Garner told me much about my family history. I was always fascinated with history and spent much lime walking the local cemeteries imagining the history they contained.
I graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, IL in 1976 and then moved to Chicago to seek my fortune. I began a career in Social Work and completed my Master of Social Work in 1982 at Loyola University of Chicago.Along the way, I met and married my husband Ron McIntyre 28 February 1981 and we have had an amazing journey together!
We have 2 kids who have lives of their own and grandkids!
I spent my working life as a Clinical Social Worker, working in a variety of settings: community mental health, inpatient mental health with mentally ill criminals, medical social work, Executive Director of an Adult Day Care center for frail elders, private practice as a Geriatric Care Manager and psychotherapist, home health medical social worker and then retired due to a congenital neuromuscular condition.
Family History has been a long time hobby and in 1991, I self published a book about the Ditzler family of Jackson County IL. I've been chasing ancestors since I was a teenager and love connecting them with the historical events they experienced.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in?
Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Let me know.
I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders.
