Wikitree and me

Amateur genealogist since about twenty years, I started with a course including how to read old documents, at the Société de Généalogie Canadienne Française in Montreal.

Moved to St-Jérôme, I have been president of the Société de généalogie des Laurentides. In 2013, due to family and health reasons, I left all positions outside my home and started using only Internet for my genealogy research..

Today, I participate in the Global Tree Wikitree. I volonteer by taking responsibilities in different roles in projects or departments where needed and where I will be happy. Registered since 2012, I decided to invest more time and efforts in october 2014.

On June 2, 2012, we have organized a family reunion in St-Sauveur, Quebec. We were over 400. I spoke over 3 hours about our family genealogy and history from 1660 to today. Everyone enjoyed the day. Wish we could do this more often.

Hello Guy,

We wrote to you about the changes in the Profile Improvement Project (PIP) a couple of weeks ago. If you would like to continue with the Project, we can place you in the Biography Team, Level 1 where you can work on improving profiles from your own watchlist to Level 1 of the Profile Standards.

We would like to hear from you with any ideas or suggestions. If you do not wish to participate in the Project, please let us know. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days we will remove you from the Project, but we will welcome you back at any time.

Sincerely,

Dear Guy,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.

For those of you who joined the Project before the Voyage started in late 2018, we would like to invite you to consider a "fast track" Voyage, especially if you plan to join the Biography Team. If you’re interested, choose a profile that you have completed to the best of your ability and compare it to the Voyage Biography Standards. If you’re at Level 2 or better, include a link to the profile in your response to this check-in for a “fast track” review.

We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:

Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.

We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Robin Shaules Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Hello Guy....My Great Grant Mother, Julie Constantineau(1827--1883) married Joachim Charro ( 1807-883). I have been able to trace my Charron roots back tp 1635 , as can most descendants of French settlers cam, except for one: Julie. My Grandmother, Mary Ellen McNulty (nee Connelly, the mother on la of Thanks. By the way, I have the Mullen family tree going back to the first Mullens in my family's arrival in Canada in 1820 or so. I thought that was pretty good until I saw the Charron part of my tree going back to 1635. The Mullen tree that I have is only a tiny part of a much larger tree that Reby Johnston, a distant family member of mine, had spent a lifetime creating. It has hundreds of families in it going back to the 1800's . The book is 8.5 by 9.75 by 1.25 inches thick. However it is out of date as she gave me he book almost fifty years ago, and I have only recently decided to look into my family history when I had decided to try and solve "Who was Julie Constantineau" once and for all. ( Without doing a DNA test to l learn the truth about our family roots.) I am sure that other members of Reby's family would kept some branches of her masterpiece up to date.

Hi Guy, Regarding Greer comment. I did not write up all that information. I think in my early excitement, I adopted a bunch of Greers (which I have decided to unadopt those I cannot find a connection to my husband's family). The county Antrim quote was probably from the original creator.

I'll keep it on my list to see if any more information can be found. It is a good write up though. Cyndie
