Gerdis Charleston Acox was my great grandfather. He is buried next to my great grandmother Thelma. Their son Jerry is buried near them. The original spelling of his last name was Aycock. For some unknown reason two brothers decided to change the spelling when they left Alabama for Oklahoma. My line changed it to Acox and the other brother changed it to Aycox and those that stayed in Alabama kept the original spelling. So the Acox, Aycox and Aycock are all related. Gerdis' parents were Daniel Wheeler Acox (he changed his spelling) and Frances Ann Crutcher (I believe this was changed as well from Critcher). Daniel's brother John Wesley Aycox was the brother that changed his spelling. Their parents were Richard Henry Aycock and Martha Jane Marion. She remarried after Richard passed away to John Drinnon.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Gerdis by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Gerdis:
