Samuel Alexander Sr served with Civil Service, North Carolina during the American Revolution.

Samuel Alexander Sr is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A001243.

Samuel Alexander, Sr. served as a Justice, in Wilkes county, Georgia, during the American Revolutionary War. [1] Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have accept Samuel, Sr/II as a Patriot, performing Civil Service in the Revolutionary War, with the correct dates, marriage and children; DAR magazine, Nov 1989 page 751. Application for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of Samuel and his wife Bethiah Castelaw through their sons Samuel Alexander, Jr. who also served in the military at the time, and who married Olive Wooten and Asa Alexander, who married Faitha Wooten.

Researcher's Notes

Samuel's father was also named Samuel. There were three generations of Samuels living in the same area of NC at the same time in 1758 and they are not referred to with any designation at this time. During and after the Revolutionary War this Samuel, living in Georgia, this Samuel becomes known as Senior as his son Samuel (III), now an adult is referred to as Jr. (especially in the documentation of the DAR) [2]

1778, Mar 9 Richmond Co., Georgia; Samuel Alexander was appointed a magistrate for the county of Richmond to administer the oath of abjuration. [3] 1782 Richmond Co., Georgia; Samuel Alexander, a member of the House for Richmond; that is a member of the General Assembly, 1782, p32. Samuel Alexander was fined for non attendance in 1782, p181 (The Rev. Records of the State of Georgia Allen D. Chandler, Vol. 3, from Herbert Newell).
