JOSEPH W. ALVEY, 71, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired employee of Reynolds Metals Co. and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: his wife, the former Thelma Brown; a son, Thomas C. Alvey; a daughter, Sharon Jo Wright; brothers, Edward, Charlie, Frank, and Marvin Alvey; sisters, Lillian Ann Bizzell, Martha Wheeler, and Catherine Alvey; and three grandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop. Burial: Highland Memory Gardens, Mount Washington. Visitation: Arch L. Heady Okolona, 8519 Preston Highway, 3-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Memorial gifts: Hospice of Louisville or American Cancer Society.
