Tradition told to "the four brothers" by their father, William Anderson, son of Robert II, and by them to my father, showed that Catherine Graham was a close kinswoman of James Montrose, the great marquis.

These following orders of publique charge and Levy were made in New Kent County to Cornelious Daubney, Stephen Tarlton, Robt. • " The Anderson Family" by Edward Lowell Anderson states that on July 4, 1635, Richard Anderson age 17, left England for the colonies, and was followed by Richard Anderson, age 53, presumably his father. Before sailing both took the oath of allegiance and supremacy. These 2 men appear to have been the progenitors of the Anderson family of Hanover county, Virginia. They intermarried with Massey's, Cloughs, Poindexters, Overtons, Garlands, Dabney's, and Shelton's.

I have removed this Robert Anderson as a son of Robert Anderson Sr. and association with that family as he was not part of the New Kent/Hanover Andersons. His history is all in western Virginia Shenandoah Valley area; no Anderson researchers identified him as part of this family; the names in his line are inconsistent with those in the New Kent Andersons; this Robert does not appear in any of the St. Paul processioning records with the other Andersons (the other son Robert does) and including him creates two sons named Robert. Please let me know if you think this removal is in error or you have stronger evidence of his association.
