Biography

Basil Askins was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Basil Talmage Askins was born on 10 April 1897 in Mariba, Menifee, Kentucky, United States, son of James Robert Askins and Mary Ellen Gose.

In the 1900 census Basel (age 3) was the son of James R Askings in Magisterial District 1, Menifee, Kentucky, United States.[1]

In the 1910 census Basil (age 13) was the son of Robert Askin in Mariba, Menifee, Kentucky.[2]

Basil registered for the World War I military draft in Menifee County, Kentucky.[3]

In the 1920 census Basie (age 21) was the single son of Mary Askins in Menifee County, Kentucky.[4]

Talmage (age 25) married Flora Profit (age 21) on 4 February 1928 in Butler County, Ohio.[5] Flora died (age 22) shortly after her marriage to Basil on 16 April 1928 from laryngeal tuberculosis.[6]

Basil died (age 32) on 24 October 1929 in Franklin, Warren, Ohio.[7][8]
