Louisa was born about 1830 in Ohio.
The 1850 U.S. Census recorded Louisa Ayres, age 20, in Waldo Township, Marion County, Ohio, with Margaret Ayres, age 60 (presumably her mother), and William Ayres, age 30 (presumably her brother), a laborer. Margaret was born in New York, and William and Louisa were born in Ohio.[1]
Louisa Ayers and George Partridge were married in Marion County, Ohio on 2 August 1852, with marriage licenses issued that same day. The marriage officiant was a justice of the peace named Porterfield.[2]
The 1860 U.S. Census recorded Louisa Partridge in New London Township, Huron County, Ohio. She was 29 years old, born in Ohio, and a seamstress by occupation. Others in the household were Margaret Ayres, age 66 (apparently her mother), born in New York; and two boys: Francis, 6, and William, 4, both born in Ohio.[3]
By 1870 she appears to have remarried, apparently to Stephen Jolly, and was living in Swan Creek Township, Fulton County, Ohio. The household recorded in the 1870 census consisted of Stephen Jolly, age 68, a farmer, born in England; Louisa Jolly, 40, born in Ohio; and Frank Partridge, 16, and William Partridge, 14, both born in Ohio and working as farm laborers.[4]
Louisa passed away about 1900. [5]
Death record, probably not her: Ohio records show a Louisa B. Jolly dying in Harrison County, Ohio, on 3 September 1918. No age or other detail is included in the index record.[6]
Stephen Jolly seems to have been married to someone else at the time (1870) when she was recorded as Louisa Jolly. It's likely that she reverted to the name Partridge. There are later records of a Louisa Partridge claiming a Civil War pension on the account of George Partridge; this easily might be her. Smith-62120 03:43, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
