Biography

William Bailey was born in 1797, the son of Enoch Bailey and Deborah Childs.^[1]

He was married Sep. 1829 at Greensboro, VT to Marsha Shurtleff, daughter of Enoch Shurtleff and Hannah (Boyce) Shurtleff. Marsha was born Jun. 1812 at Walden, VT. They had five children, born in Greensboro, VT. This family was living in Greensboro, VT when the 1840 census was taken.^[2] Martha Bailey died in Jun. 1843 at Greensboro, VT, age 31.

Widower William Bailey was married a second time 2 Aug. 1849 at Manchester, NH to Mary G. Carleton.^[3] She was born about 1804 in NH. This family was living in Manchester, NH when the 1850 census was taken.^[4] William Bailey died 31 May 1866 at Manchester. NH.^[5] He was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery at Manchester, NH.^[6]
