George and Sarah purchased 80 acres of land in Schullsburg, Wisconsin. He farmed during the summers and worked the mines during the winter. They resided there for 18 year. In 1881 they moved to Plymouth county, Iowa. He raised livestock, and farmed here until he retired in1891. He sold 320 acres and moved into Kingsley, Iowa where he lived until his death in 1897.
