Lieutenant Henry Baldwin was born December 23, 1753, in Anne Arundel county, Maryland. He served as an officer during the American Revolutionary War, as an Ensign and then a Lieutenant of Maryland's 3rd Regiment. One of his assignments was a Quartermaster. He also served under Captain John Sprigg Belt and Captain Francis Revelley, under the command of Colonel Mordecai Gist. [1]
Lieutenant Baldwin was twice married. His first wife was Sarah (Hall) Rawlings, daughter of John Hall of Whitehall and Achsah (Marriott) Hall, and widow of Francis Rawlings. His second wife was Maria Graham Woodward. Applications for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution have been filed by descendants on his son, William Henry Baldwin, who married Jane Maria Woodward, and his daughters, Eliza Baldwin, who married Thomas Worthington; and Sara Hall Baldwin, who married Denton Hammond.
