Wilhelmine (Band) Ambelang has roots in the region now known as Brandenburg, Germany.
Charlotte Wilhelmine Caroline Band was born in The Templin region of Prussia 1814. Before or about 1840 she married [[[Ambelang-7|Wilhelm Mathias Ambelang (1813-1874)]]. The couple had three sons, born from 1843 to 1846. The two older sons, August and William, immigrated to America initially, then she, her spouse and youngest son Carl Frederick Franz Ambelang (1846-1924) followed in 1867. They first settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where the first two sons were. She also lived for a time, including the period of the 1880 US Census with her son Frank in Benton Township, Lucas, Iowa. She passed away in 1891.
